The week is an extended one (4–days, due to the fact that Christmas was on Thursday and so it promises to be a bountiful week for the box–office. Even otherwise, one of the two new releases, Murugadoss`s Aamir Khan, Asin and Jiah Khan starrer, `Ghajini`, was bound to start off with a bang (and it has!) and now more so due to the festive mood. And for that the credit must surely go to Aamir Khan, his star power and his innovative publicity blitzkrieg.

The other new release of the week is the animated `Jumbo` that boasts of a voiceover by Akshay Kumar, amongst others, and that is what the producers must be banking on, especially for enticing the children, now that the winter vacations are on in most parts of the country. No data is still awaited about `Jumbo`.

Last Friday saw the Rakesh Sawant directed `Wafaa`, featuring the once phenomenal star Rajesh Khanna. It was embarrassing for the audience to watch the erstwhile superstar being a part of a film that can best be described as a sex film with a shameful storyline. The film is a waste of time, raw stock, money and energy and it is not a surprise that it has had a very poor opening, wherever it has released and has been rejected totally.

Aditya Chopra`s Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Vinay Pathak starrer, `Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi`, has fantastic collections to show in its first week and has yielded excellent shares of 23.32 crores from India. It must be a big surprise for most people in the trade and media, who had predicted that the film would be rejected by the public. The film is very string even in its second week and is bound to become a blockbuster and is on way to being the third straight triumph for the Aditya–SRK team, much to the chagrin of their detractors. Needless to add that `Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi` has had a great run in the Overseas, with just the first week grossing over $4 million.
