With as many as four films lined up for release on the coming Friday, business is bound to be divided. The list includes - `Sankat City`, `Morning Walk`, `Dekh Bhai Dekh` and `Short Kut The Con Is On`. One feels that from the four, Studio 18 and Anil Kapoor’s Neeraj Vora directed `Short Kut The Con Is On` may find some first day patronage in Bombay circuit, while Pankaj Advani`s `different` `Sankat City` (with some of the best actors of Bollywood) may impress, based on a positive word of mouth.

Last Friday saw the release of Eros International and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.’s `Kambakkht Ishq`. The Sabbir Khan directed Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor starrer expectedly embarked on a great start all over, grossing 19 crores worldwide on the opening day itself. By and large the opening varied from superb to fantastic. The 45-50 crore `Kambakkht Ishq` has also opened very well in the Overseas, especially US, but was on the lower side (for an Akshay Kumar starrer) in the UK.

 New York  Verdict: Above Average
 Weekly Earnings: India Rs. 27.75 crore ; UK£ 52,574 ; US$148,470  Total Earnings: India Rs. 27.75 crore ; UK£300,198

The first universal success of 2009, Yash Raj Films` Kabir Khan directed `New York` has a good first week, despite a fall from Monday. The John Abraham, Katrina Kaif , Irrfan Khan and Neil Nitin Mukesh starrer, made it on a modest budget of 20 crores by Yash Raj, who are also distributing it worldwide, is already profitable for them. `New York` has also fared very well in the Overseas.

 Runway  Verdict: Washout
Weekly Earnings: India Rs. 0.08 crore  Total Earnings: India Rs. 0.08 crore
Director: Suniel Tiwari, Praful Tiwari  Producer: Reeta J Shukla
Music: Shamir Tandon  Lyrics: Shabir Ahmed
Starring: Amarjeet, Tulip Joshi, Lucky Ali, Shawar Ali, Deepak, Sharat Saxena
Genre: Action  Recommended Audience: Parental Guidance
The other release of the same week as `New York`, `Runway`, saw the audience run away from the cinemas. The film proves to be a runaway disaster!

 Paying Guests  Verdict: Below average
Weekly Earnings: India Rs. 1 crore  Total Earnings: India Rs. 7.25 crore
Subhash Ghai’s Paritosh Painter directed `Paying Guests` crashed in its second week. Fortunately the Shreyas Talpade, Jaaved Jafferi, Ashish Chaudhry, Celina Jaitley and Riya Sen starrer has escaped as a break even project, once the non-theatrical rights are accounted for.

 Kal Kissne Dekha  Verdict: Disaster
Weekly Earnings: India Rs. 0.10 crore  Total Earnings: India Rs. 7.85 crore
The Jackky-Vaishali debut vehicle, Vashu Bhagnani`s 30 crore venture, `Kal Kissne Dekha`, is breathing its last.
