| Thursday, that is `Janamashtmi` saw the release of Karan Johar’s Kajol, Kareena and Arjun starrer, `We Are Family`. While the first day, with limited shows saw a good respose, the film saw a fall on Saturday. With a total release cost of around 30 crore, the film will have to rely on rights like satellite and DVD to bring in the profits for the makers as there is limited hype for the film plus the music has not really caught on. Giving company to `We Are Family` from the next day, that is ‘Jumma –Tul-Wida’ will be the Wilson Louis directed `Mallika`. Given the intelligent publicity the scary but sexy `Mallika` (The talented Sheena Nayyar) may just manage to pull a surprise! |

There were a record number of Hindi, dubbed Hindi and Marathi releases but not a single film could command even a half decent initial. For those who are still interested to know the details, the front runner of the snail race was John Abraham’s `Aashayeon` followed by `Hello Darling`.

The Pradeep Sarkar directed `Lafangey Parindey` has managed to do average business, not at all befitting that of a Yash Raj Films’ project. Fortunately the the Neil-Deepika starrer will manage to bring marginal profits, based on non-theatrical rights and that too because the makers are also the worldwide distributors. The film is a washout in the Overseas.
