While the nation is still swinging to the joint festivities of Eid and Ganesh Chaturthi, Salman Khan`s `Dabangg` is smashing domestic records of `3 Idiots` left right and centre. The first Friday milestone of 13 crore has gone and the weekend record of 41 crore (including Thursday paid previews) set by `3 Idiots` will also be surpassed by `Dabangg`. The film is also doing exceedingly well in UK, Middle East and Australia.

 We Are Family  Verdict: Coverage
 Weekly Earnings: UK£162,863 ; US$366,354  Total Earnings: UK£162,863 ; US$366,354
PB Rating: 5.0 out of 10  Public Rating (by 400 unique users): 5.17
Director: Siddharth Malhotra  Producer: Karan Johar
Music: Shankar Ehsaan Loy  Lyrics: Irshad Kamil and Anvita Dutt
Starring: Kajol, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal
 Genre: Family  Recommended Audience: General
The opening of Karan Johar’s 32 crore (Release costs included) `We Are Family` was never expected to be great but no one expected it to be so much below the mark. Except for Gujarat the Kajol, Kareena and Arjun starrer has had a very ordinary (extended) weekend to show and will just about break even. Even more shocking is the performance of the Dharma Production venture in the Overseas.

 Aashayein  Verdict: Disaster
Weekly Earnings: India Rs. 2.75 crore  Total Earnings: India Rs. 2.75 crore
Director: Nagesh Kukunoor  Producer: Elahe Hiptoola
 Music: Salim Sulaiman  Lyrics:
Starring: John Abraham, Sonal Sehgal, Vikram Inamdar, Sonali Sachdev, Farida Jalal, Girish Karnad and Anahita Nair
Genre: Drama  Recommended Audience: Parental Guidance
The poor fate of Nagesh’s John Abraham starrer `Aashayein` was obvious from day one. The film had a poor week.

 Hello Darling  Verdict: Flop
Weekly Earnings: India Rs. 2.25 crore  Total Earnings: India Rs. 2.25 crore
Even Mukta Arts’ Hello Darling went the `Aashayein` way.

 Lafangey Parindey  Verdict: Average
Weekly Earnings: India Rs. 4.50 crore  Total Earnings: India Rs. 21.50 crore ; UK£29,359
PB Rating: 8.0 out of 10  Public Rating (by 400 unique users): 5.17
Director: Pradeep Sarkar  Producer: Aditya Chopra
Music: R Anandh  Lyrics: Swanand Kirkire
Starring: Neil Nitin Mukesh, Deepika Padukone, Namit Das, Manish Chaudhary, Kay Kay Menon
 Genre: Drama  Recommended Audience: General
The collections of Yash Raj’s Pradeep Sarkar directed Deepika-Neil starrer `Lafangey Parindey` fell heavily. Thankfully, with all rights of the 12-13 crore film resting with the makers Yash Raj Films (who are also the distributers), `Lafangey Parindey` will manage to earn some profits. Unfortunately the film is a washout in the Overseas.

 Peepli Live  Verdict: Hit plus
Weekly Earnings: India Rs. 2 crore ; US$36,403  Total Earnings: India Rs. 30 crore ; US$754,837
PB Rating: 8.0 out of 10  Public Rating (by 400 unique users): 5.17
Director: Anusha Rizvi  Producer: Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, B. Shrinivas Rao
Music: Indian Ocean, Nageen Tanvir, Bhadwai Village Mandali  Lyrics: Noon Meem Rashed, Sanjeev Sharma, Gangaram Sakhet, Swanand Kirkiree
Starring: Omkar Das Manikpuri, Raghubir Yadav, Malaika Shenoy, Nawazuddin Siddiqui
 Genre: Social  Recommended Audience:
Meanwhile Aamir Khan’s 10 crore `Peepli [Live]` still has some fire power left in its arsenal. The starless film is doing wonders in the Overseas, thanks to brand Aamir!

Once Upon A Time in Mumbai  Verdict: Hit
Weekly Earnings: India Rs. 1.10 crore  Total Earnings: India Rs. 55.80 crore ; UK £126,696
PB Rating: 7.5 out of 10  Public Rating (by 400 unique users): 5.17
Director: Milan Luthria  Producer: Balaji Telefilms
Music: Pritam  Lyrics: Irshad Kamil, Nilesh Mishra, Amitabh Bhattacharya
Starring: Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Prachi Desai, Kangana Ranaut, Randeep Hooda
Genre: Thriller  Recommended Audience: Parental Guidance
Ending this week’s column yet again with Milan Luthria’s `Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai`, the film continues to trickle in low level collections. The film though has been rejected in the Overseas.
