| It is almost an open week with just the English-Punjabi film ` A Distant Mirage` and also `Life Express` releasing. And that is a smart move as the still very strong `Dabangg` will decimate anything and everything in sight! |

While the opening of Salman Khan`s `Dabangg` was always going to be huge, it continues to be strong even in the weekdays. The film has not only beaten the opening weekend record of `3 Idiots` but even the seemingly impossible first week record of 79 crore (also including 3 crore Thursday paid previews). In it`s first week `Dabangg` has netted well over 80 crores. No doubt that the film is a blockbuster, the only question remaining to be answered is whether it will be an all time blockbuster or not. The Abhinav Kashyap directed film has also rocked the Overseas despite its `desi` theme and setting.

Karan Johar’s `We Are Family` has not been appreciated much, though the collections have come in better than expected (in the weekdays). The makers will have to rely on the non-theatrical rights to get into the safety zone. The Kajol, Arjun and Kareena starrer has shown a surprising jump in the UK.
