As expected Balaji motion Pictures and ALT. Entertainment’s `The Dirty Picture` has embarked on a good to great start and it comes as no surprise. The single screens are obviously phenomenal, but even the multiplexes are doing good. Just to re-iterate, `The Dirty Picture` is a sure shot hit because it has that potent mass plus class deal. The first day may well see the film netting around 9 crores from India. The other release of the week, `I Am Singh` has failed to appeal to the audience.

 Desi Boyz  Verdict: Average
 Weekly Earnings: UK£ 244,000 ; US$702,325  Total Earnings: UK£ 244,000 ; US$702,325
PB Rating: 5.0 out of 10  Public Rating (by 400 unique users): 5.17
Director: Rohit Dhawan  Producer: Krishika Lulla, Vijay Ahuja, Jyoti Deshpande
Music: Pritam  Lyrics: Kumaar, Irshad Kamil, Amitabh Bhattacharya
Starring: Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Chitrangda Singh
 Genre: Comedy  Recommended Audience: General
The opening of Rohit Dhawan`s Akshay-John starrer did not embark on an earth shattering start. Fortunately the film netted 26-27 crore, with a stable weekend and noticeable pick ups, but that big jump on Sunday was missing. The film did see a pronounced fall during the weekdays but still managed to get to around 37-38 crore week (to be validated once collections are declared). Still, given the fact that the 65 crore (all inclusive cost) `Desi Boyz` has already recovered it`s investment (25-26 crore satellite, 6-7 crore audio and 16-17 crore UK subsidy), it is now a profitable venture for it’s global distributor, EROS International. `Desi Boyz` has also done very well in the Overseas.

Shakal Pe Mat Ja  Verdict: Flop
Weekly Earnings: India Rs. 0.65 crore  Total Earnings: India Rs. 0.65 crore
Linc Entertainment and Ipix Movies’ `Shakal Pe Mat Ja` saw a poor run and has failed.

 Na Jaane Kabse  Verdict: Washout
Weekly Earnings: India Rs. 0.10 crore  Total Earnings: India Rs. 0.10 crore
The other release of the same week, `Na Jaane Kabse`, failed to achieve anything and is an unmitigated disaster.

 Rockstar  Verdict: Semi-hit
 Weekly Earnings: India Rs. 16 crore ; UK£10,000 ; US$36,000  Total Earnings: India Rs. 65 crore ; UK£357,500 ; US$972,254
PB Rating: 8.0 out of 10  Public Rating (by 400 unique users): 5.17
Director: Imtiaz Ali  Producer: Dhillin Mehta
Music: A.R. Rahman  Lyrics: Irshad Kamil
Starring: Ranbir Kapoor, Nargis Fakhri, Shammi Kapoor
 Genre: Musical  Recommended Audience: General
The collection of Imtiaz Ali’s Ranbir-Nargis starrer, `Rockstar` fell by quite a bit in the second week but in the context of today’s box-office parlance it will still be called a steady run. The film has also done quite well in the Overseas, especially US.

 Ra.One  Verdict: Semi-hit
 Weekly Earnings: India Rs. 0.50 crore ; US$ 2,500  Total Earnings: India Rs. 117 crore ; UK£1,428,200 ; US$2,509,150
PB Rating: 6.5 out of 10  Public Rating (by 401 unique users): 5.15
Director: Anubhav Sinha  Producer: Gauri Khan
Music: Vishal-Shekhar  Lyrics: Atahar Panchi, Vishal Dadlani and Kumaar
Starring: Shahrukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Shahana Goswami
 Genre: Action  Recommended Audience: General
Concluding yet again with Shah Rukh Khan’s Anubhav Sinha directed `RA.One`, the film is on it’s last legs in India. `RA.One` is the biggest Overseas hit of 2011.
