This Friday’s major release, the 21-22 crore Madhur Bhandarkar directed Kareena, Arjun and Randeep starrer, `Heroine`, opened to a dull to decent response. The start of the film varied from 40-55 percent on an average, while some high end multiplexes and good single screens of big cities reported a higher 60 percent.

The film did not show any growth during the second day due to a not so positive feedback, while it was damaged further the super strong `Barfi!`

 Barfi!  Verdict: Hit
 Weekly Earnings: India Rs. 57.50 crore ; UK£230,000 ; US$1,061,750  Total Earnings: India Rs. 57.50 crore ; UK£230,000 ; US$1,061,750
PB Rating: 7.0 out of 10  Public Rating (by 410 unique users): 5.11
Director: Anurag Basu  Producer: Ronnie Screwvala, Siddharth Roy Kapoor
Music: Pritam  Lyrics: Swanand Kirkire, Sayeed Quadri, Neelesh Mishra, Ashish Pandit
Starring: Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Ileana D Cruz, Rupa Ganguly
 Genre: Romantic  Recommended Audience: General
Last Friday’s Anurag Basu directed `Barfi!` saw a rock steady week. With the overseas too returning impressive figures, the Ranbir-Priyanka starrer is already a clear hit.

 Raaz 3  Verdict: Blockbuster
 Weekly Earnings: India Rs 14.75 crore  Total Earnings: India Rs 70 crore ; UK£162,700 ; US$ 1,50,750
Director: Vikram Bhatt  Producer: Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt
Music: Jeet Ganguly  Lyrics: Sanjay Masoomm, Kumaar, Rashid Khan
Starring: Emraan Hashmi, Bipasha Basu, and Esha Gupta
Genre: Horror  Recommended Audience: Parental Guidance
The Vikram Bhatt directed Bipasha-Emraan starrer, `Raaz 3`, took an expected hit from `Barfi!` in the second week and the collections fell badly, but still, adding the non theatrical rights and the handsome returns from India, `Raaz 3` is Emraan Hashmi’s first solo blockbuster. The film has also done well (for an Emraan solo) in the Overseas.

 Joker  Verdict: Flop
Weekly Earnings: India Rs. 1.50 crore  Total Earnings: India Rs. 22.50 crore ; UK£145,200 ; US$170,000
Meanwhile Shrish Kunder’s Akshay-Sonakshi starrer `Joker` went from bad to worse in the second week. The film has also been rejected in the Overseas.

Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi  Verdict: Below average
Weekly Earnings: India Rs. 0.75 crore  Total Earnings: India Rs. 12.75 crore ; UK £77,200 ; US $ 166,750
Director: Bela Sehgal  Producer: Sanjay Leela Bhansali; Sunil A Lulla
Music: Jeet Ganguly  Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya, Faraz Ali
Starring: Boman Irani, Farah Khan, Kavin Dave, Shammi
Genre: Romantic  Recommended Audience: Parental Guidance
Meanwhile after a so-so opening week EROS International and Bhansali Productions’ Boman-Farah starrer, `Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi`, crashed badly in the second and third week, but will just about escape, after accounting for the non theatrical rights. The film has also under-performed in the Overseas.

Ek Tha Tiger  Verdict: All time blockbuster
 Weekly Earnings: India Rs. 2 crore ; UK£6,750  Total Earnings: India Rs. 200 crore ; UK£1,409,200 ; US$2,650,000
PB Rating: 6.5 out of 10  Public Rating (by 410 unique users): 5.11
Director: Kabir Khan  Producer: Aditya Chopra
Music: Sajid-Wajid, Sohail Sen  Lyrics: Kausar Munir, Neelesh Misra, Anvita Dutt Guptan
Starring: Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Ranbir Shorey
 Genre: Romantic, Thriller  Recommended Audience:
Concluding with YRF’s Kabir Khan directed, `Ek Tha Tiger`, the film continues to rake in the moolah for all concerned, and is only the second film after Aamir Khan`s `3 Idiots` to touch the 200 crore mark from India. The film is also Salman`s biggest Overseas hit.
