| This Friday`s Ashish R. Mohan directed Akshay-Asin starrer, `Khiladi 786`, embarked on a good to bumper start, but only at the single screens of UP, Rajasthan, Bihar and parts of Mumbai circuit. The multiplexes were much lower (30-55 percent), the higher collections coming from non-metro multiplexes. Given that the word-of-mouth for the film is mixed and some of the discerning critics are expectedly not so kind, the metro and `A` center multiplexes may not improve much. Having said that, `Khiladi 786` did show a perceptible growth in the latter shows and is likely to net 10 crore on it’s opening day, with the weekend expected to be in the range of about 30 crore. |

Last week’s Reema Kagti directed Aamir, Rani, Kareena and Nawazuddin starrer, `Talaash`, managed a good weekend of 44-45 crore, but flattered to deceive, as thereafter the weekdays saw the collections falling (alarmingly Tuesday onwards). The battle for the 45 crore (all inclusive price minus Aamir`s remunerations) film is still not over, and to be declared a clean hit, and for getting to the now customary 100 crore mark, `Talaash` has to show strong legs in the second weekend, as well as the week! The film has done good business (bumper in US) in the Overseas.

Moving on, the late Yash Chopra directed, 60 crore (all inclusive cost, sans SRK’s fee) `Jab Tak Hai Jaan`, saw a heavy fall after the first extended week (10-days). The Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka starrer is an all time blockbuster in the Overseas, grossing $12.65m.

Concluding with Viacom 18 Motion Pictures’ `Son Of Sardaar`, the film also saw a heavy fall after the extended festival week. The Ajay and Sonakshi starrer, `Son Of Sardaar`, which cost EROS International 80-85 crore (worldwide rights) is fair in the overseas (decent in US)
