This Friday`s new release, Vipul Shah`s Anees Bazmee directed Akshay, Katrina and Sonu Sood starrer, `Singh Is Kinng`, is all set to take an outstanding opening. Trade feels that the start that the Anees-Akshay venture is likely to embark upon will be on par if not better than their last venture, `Welcome`, both in India and Overseas. One must add here that `Singh Is Kinng` has been sold for a fancy price to Studio 18 and it has to sustain for at least two weeks before it can be called a success.

Last week`s solo release, the Mallika-Ranvir starrer, `Ugly Aur Pagli`, had an ordinary to dull opening across India, which improved only marginally during the weekend. The reason is obvious, the film did not turn out to be the laugh riot that its teasers and title promised it would be. At the box-office, it is a disappointing fare and the average performance during the opening weekend will be its only redeeming feature.
