This week will see the release of composer–singer Himesh Reshammiya`s second film as an actor, `Karzzzz`, and the Jagmohan Mundhra directed `Shoot On sight`. There is no competition really as the Satish Kaushik directed remake of the Subhash Ghai classic, `Karz`, in its new `avatar`, `Karzzzz`, will take a good start, especially at the single screens. However, what must be kept in mind is that unlike Himesh`s low budget `Aap Kaa Surroor`, his latest venture `Karzzzz` has been procured at quite a stiff price and so it has to sustain.

As predicted, the open week and the Salman Khan song helped `Hello` towards achieving a good start. Some were under the misimpression that both Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif had full–fledged roles in the Atul Agnihotri directed film. Released at 73 cinemas of Bombay and suburbs, the opening was fair in the multiplexes. Outside of Bombay the opening in multiplexes of big cities was very good. Trade feels that on the whole, `Hello` will work in the multiplexes of the big cities but will fail to entice the audience in smaller towns and `C` class centres. A major chunk of its revenues will come from cities like Bombay, Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Calcutta, Gurgaon, Indore, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and the likes. Keeping its modest budget in mind and the impressive start that it has taken in the cities, `Hello` should keep its distributors happy, given that its satellite rights would also fetch a decent price. `Hello`has however been rejected totally in the Overseas, grossing a pathetic collections.

The sad failure of `Drona` has sent shock waves through the trade and industry. After a good first day the film kept on falling badly as the week progressed. The film presented by EROS International, is said to have cost the corporate around 45 crores. Rough estimates (as per a leading trade journal) put the expected loss at 30 crores. The Abhishek, Priyanka and Kay Kay starrer has also been rejected in the Overseas though it is better in the US.

As we had indicated last week, the collections of `Kidnap` started dropping from the second day itself and were quite dull even on Sunday. `Kidnap` may not have fared as badly as `Drona` but it will nevertheless entailed losses to the Indian Film Company, which acquired its worldwide rights from Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Limited. The Sanjay Gadhvi directed Sanjay Dutt, Imran Khan and Minissha Lamba starrer has also been rejected in the Overseas, though it is decent in the UK.
