** Dil Chahta Hai from a Sri Lankan's point of view ***[ Follow Ups ] [ Post Followup ] [ DilChahtaHai Forum ] Posted by stylez85 on March 28, 2002 at 01:19:15: Okay let's get this straight. I almost never watch Hindi movies and I usually switch the channel whenever I see one on TV. That's what most urban people do in our country :) We are sick of invincible heroes, daintee heroines, unnatural villains, jokers, fights, songs, dancing, aerobics, gimnastics, gods, devils, flat characterization, corrupt politics, bribary, rapists, thugs and all the other ingredients of a typical masala Hindi film. Actually most Sri Lankans films are worse cuz they always copy Masala hindi movies. No decent Sri Lankan goes to the Cinema to watch Sinhalese/Hindi movies nowadays. So coupla weeks ago I found a Dil Chahta Hai VCD while ruffling through my kid brother's school bag and decided to watch is cuz I was SO bored. BUT YAARS, I must say that I was REALLY REALLY IMPRESSED! I wouldn't have believed this was a Hindi movie. You guys in India are definitely improving hehhe. I watched it almost 10 times over and over again and I still got the VCD hidden in a secret place in my desk. Yup I can even touch in right now with my knee. I could understand exactly how Siddarth felt cause I've been in a similar situation. But I think you have made Akash's girl's prev bf a rough character. I mean you didn't have to make him a villain. He loved that girl too. You could show him weeping etc etc. Anyway the movie was really great. Sri Lankan films are also improving. There are still those nauseating achcharu masala movies but Rosa Wasanthe, Pawuru Walalu, This is my moon etc are good examples of popular great movies. Alright yaars. Me pyaar kartha hai. Lol... - Kevin
