Lajja - in depth review. - 9/10.

Lajja was a film with so much hype before it's release, but does it live up to it??? Simple answer - YES. It's not perfect but it's still brill.
The performances by the actresses r absolutley mindblowing.
Maduri proves that she definitely is the best actress in bollywood, with her brilliant handling of her dramatic scenes and the ramayan sequence. Her dance number badi mushkil is also one of the highlights of the film.
Manisha is stunning in her role, she looks good and acts well. Her speech at the climax of the film is something we haven;t seen from her since dil se and bombay and is donw marvelously, it qualifies as a classic scene.
Rekha is also brilliant in her role. Her screams in her rape sequence will echo through ur head well after watchin the film.
To me the suprise package was actually mahima. From the other actresses we have all seen good performances, however, mahima proves that she is up there in their ranks. She plays her role of a fresh and peppy young girl to a t. When she is talking to manisha about wat she wants in life -felt her feelings through her voice.
Urmilla's dance sequence is also well choreographed and enjoyable. I loved every minute of sonali - she looked so stunning.
Anil kappor was as good as ever , even though he didn't ahv much to do. Jackie shroff was ok - cud hav been more convincing. Ajay devgan for me ruined the ending of the film. His silly role was very stupid, and the fighing was so unrealisitic.
The storyline of the film was brilliant, something different and with a social impact. Direction was superb and i luved how three stories were interwoven.
ALL IN ALL LAJJA IS A GREAT MOVIE WITH BRILLIANT ACTING FROM EVERYONE - ESPECIALLY THE MAIN 4 GIRLS - GOOD MUSIC AND DANCING AND SOME CHILLING SCENES, THE ONLY THING THAT RUINED IT WAS THE FIGHTING AT THE END - VERY SILLY - BUT THIS FILM IS STILL A MUST SEE - IF ONLY FOR THE ACTING OF MADURI AND MAHIMA.
