The story is quite simple. We have a popular ad maker, Karan Kapoor (Tushaar) engaged to his childhood friend Sonam (Gracy Singh). Both are in love and one day they get into a debate. Sonam believes in love at sight, while Karan believes love takes time to build. So Sonam challenges him to convince any girl of her choosing to fall in love with him. Karan accepts since he loves to live on challenges. Anyways, the whole point being that Sonam wants him to fall in love with a girl named Sarayu (Amrita Arora). She has an overprotective brother named Nanda (National Award winner, Prakashraj), who looks like a criminal.. Karan gets Sarayu to fall in love with him, slowly, but he also falls for her. Sonam is also feeling a bit guilty because Karan is being threatened by goons and Sarayu tries to commit suicide. Nanda finds out that Karan and Sonam made a bet and is raging mad. But all for what? To find out the reason (you may not have heard anything more stupid) you will have to watch Shart. Was this film really a hit in the South Indian film industry?. Of all the performances, Amrita Arora was the only one who was tolerable. Gracy Singh needs to stop making dumb films (after Lagaan, the only good role she had was in Munnabhai M.B.B.S.). Tushaar disappoints after stellar performances in Khakee and Gayab. Anupum Kher is wasted and Prakashraj is nothing special. From A-Z this movie is a dud, including the music and lame comedy tracks.. Overall, watching this film requires patience and is a big waste of time.

This reviewer can’t help but wonder why a movie like Shart - The Challenge was made. I was also surprised to learn that this film was a remake of a South Indian blockbuster, called
Badri.
