On the contrary, its far from it! I just said that to get the attention of you bolly addicts out there! haha hehe! Ok now that we are all in here, lemme have my say on this whole Yaadein thang...

I saw this last Friday and i know what ppl mean when they say that it is a weak movie. By Subhash Ghai's standards, it is wick-wack. But if you take out the Subhash Ghai factor and watch it on a neutral basis then it is watchable. WAIT! I didn't say 'great movie', i said 'watchable'!

Yaadein is one of those movies that suffers from the 'tarty' factor. Ok, i see birds cirling over your heads so lemme elaborate on that! When i say 'tarty', i mean that it simply looks good but lacks any real substance. Just like films like DTPH and HDDCS, it has its fair share of 'glossiness', exotic locations and is made to look all 'fancy' and everything, but the film itself is nuffin to boast about. However, it rates higher than flicks like DTPH and HDDCS due to the solid performances.

The performances are the only positive aspect about Yaadein. The 3 main players make the flick somewhat watchable. Jackie, Hritick and Kareena are not mind-blowing or anything, but they all do a decent job and save this from being a total disaster.
Jackie once again shows his versatility by taking on the role of a father, and he is probably the best thing about the movie. U can tell that Jaggu Dadda has put in that little bit extra into this performance. He carries off his role with conviction. However, he sure doesn't look like a father in the movie! He looks far too young for a father of 3 teenage daughters. But thats another talk show altogether...

Hritick comes up trumps with another decent performance to his name. He still has a long way to go, but is getting better with every film. I gotta say one thing about this kid though- he doesn't seem to have a problem portraying fury and rage, in fact he does it in a most convincing manner. But can someone please teach him how to portray the emotion they call 'sadness'! The scenes where he is supposedly in a state of sadness do not come across as very convincing. Especially the one where he all teary-eyed asks Kareena if she loves him outside his engagment party or whatever it was. 'Tum Mujhse Pyar Karti Ho'? Lets just say that he needs to work in this department! Anyway, apart from that he does a good job. The last hour of the flick is where he shows us some real acting.

And then we have Kareena. One word- BWOOOOY!!! She is looking yummy! Ok, now that i've got that out the way lemme say word or 2 about her performance. I thought Kareena was superb as 'Isha'. She is the 'bright light' of the movie, as it is her who grabs your attention back each time u feel like you are going into dreamland. She definetly has the nack for acting, and i can see her going all the way to the top. Kareena breathes life into this at-times dull movie. She acts very naturally, and handles the emotional scenes with ease; especially the ones in which she has to cry. Not for a moment does it come across as 'fake' or 'cheesy', she makes it all look so natural. In fact in some scenes she overshadows her co-stars. There are a few moments in the movie where Hritck just doesn't hold his own against Kareena. Jackie being the veteran that he is, mananges to put up a better fight, but still there are times where Kareena kicks his butt too!
Anywayz, she bings that 'freshness' to the movie and shines all throughout the entire flick.

Now the downside: everything else! The worst part has gotta be the bit when Kareena goes off to another country to compete in a cycle race. That whole chunk of the movie needs to be destroyed! Everthing from the cycle race, the aligator scene to the lovey-dovey crap between Kareena and Hritick is one big bore! ZZZZZZZZZZZ....

The songs are pictuarised pretty well, i thought that 'Eli Re Eli' was the best out of the whole lot.

The film does have its moments though. The best bits of the movie are the scenes between Jackie and his 3 daughters. They are very touching and have that feeling of 'warmness' about them. Also the heated confrontation between Jackie and Amrish Puri is another one that stands out. The same goes for the climax, which see's Jackie with his grandaughter. Aaaawwww!

But overall, it is an average movie that wont stay in your head for very long. If i was to watch it again, then i'd have the fast forward button ready, and i'd fast forward to the scenes that i just mentioned.

Subhash Ghai said sumfin like 'Yaadein has characters that u will never forget'. Lets just put that comment down to a state of intoxication! The 3 stars of the flick do perform well but they are nuffin special. And as for this talk about them staying in your heads forever...Naaaaaah man! Although, when i came out of the cinema, it was Kareena who lingered in my head for a little while. This is another victory under her belt (in terms of performance's that is). The same goes for Jackie and Hritick. Their performances are the only thing that make this worth watching.

So ppl, Yaadein is definetly NOT the 'BOMB! It is worth a peep once, but if u dont get to see it then u wont have missed much. By no means is it mind-blowing, but at the same it isn't a disaster either. Simply average.
On a scale of 1 to 10, i'd give it a 6.

Thats another flick to add to my list of 'disappointing movies' of the year. What a wack yr for films! For me Lagaan is the only movie that stands out so far. It has absolutely killed everything else and is firmly holding the number one spot. Everything else is loitering miles behind it! Can someone please give this film some competition! Maybe Dutt+Manjrekar can do it with Pitah eh?

Damn i've wrote a flipping essay! I'm out like Yaadein...
