Being a reviewer myself, Yeh Raaste Hain Pyar Ke is one of the easiest films to review. Not because it gets a 1 off the bat. Or not because it gets a 10 off the bat. It's an about average fare which comes really out of knack from the period in which it is actually being released! This film is meant for the early 90's audience, and you will really notice that when watching it.
The screen play. The story. The music perhaps, and the treatment of everything involved.
Ajay's acting, moreso his attempts seem very young. Preity's acting. Worst than in Kya Kehna which was a commendable effort. Only Madhuri comes out a winner, and its safe to say, when does she not?

Since I didn't see it in the theatre, my review may be in question with the opening which is like a scene from the Warner Bro's cartoon characters, from Bugs Bunny to Coyote and the Road Runner. Hillarious. Much More than David Dhawan's comedies, much, much more...

That's a minus 5 off the bat.
Then came the extremely ludicrous and insipid first 15 minutes or half hour. Preity's outfits ugh. Her acting? Ugh! I like her a lot, yet she seems worst than she did in Kya Kehna where I actually noticed more flaws than others. She did a heck of a better job in Dil Se... and Soldier.

The title song! Aside from being dull and boring as it is, it was picturized on chinese women who seemed like they were smiling because they had to. The choreography was horrible, surprised Narbir didn't mention that. In fact there is no type of choreography in the film, yet in the opening credits it was accreditted to 3 people. C'mon it takes 3 people to have Preity shake and move her hands around? Or Madhuri wine like she has millions time over? We're down to a 7.5 here.
Story. It's amazing how 2 releases were sooooooooooooo far aparts in time.
I haven't seen Dil Chahta Hai yet (won't support piracy for this one...), but its obvious how that film is really 2001 while YRHPK is so 1990-1995. It was like Anjaam and the story was handled in such an eighties way. C'mon the fighting scenes everything. Screenplay and Story were ugh.
I really wish the film was about Madhuri's issue. If Deepak had made a film that revolved around her and the dilemmas she faced as a deranged wife believing her husband was alive, then he would have had something. Because at the climax scene it seems like that is what the movie was about, he made it seem that it was all about Madhuri's dillema in believing Vicky was her husband, too bad Shivadasanii didn't let us know this! He practically bases the whole thing on Madhuri and her illness yet it all comes across as a battle for love between Preity and Vicky, a battle for Vicky to make up his own mind and a big question mark for Mads.
For a true film on that interesting subject, I guess we'll have to wait.

The film was going horrible until Madhuri came in. It's so Masaladar. Atleast Koyla had a plot that was attention grabbing and held it (Not Quality, but Entertaining...), this film is just really out of knack.
Ajay needs to get a life as an actor and starts proving his worth.
Then there is Sunny Deol who appears in and out and "waves" every time he leaves as if he is not coming back again. I don't see what people see in this guy. Not even in Gadar...
So It ends up with a 6 , which is not so bad, because of Madhuri.

Ok one last thing, the subtitles are out of knack. You can read what they are going to say (in some portions, but more importantly in the only good song, Jo Pyar Karta Hai) before they say it. And it isn't even a pirate. Can you believe it?

Then, it's amazing how in the final credits they showed everyone's name and character yet when Sunny Deol's came it was soo huge!

Can't wait for Lajja.
