Anybody seen French Kiss? If you have and you don't
want to see it again, then don't watch this movie. But if you do, then don't go rent
the original flick, go see this one. With brilliant songs and beautiful scenery
throughout, this movie is as much a pleasure to watch as French Kiss.
Sometimes when Hindi movie producers and directors try to "derive" stories from English flicks, the movies aren't too successful. Pyar To Hona Hi Tha's direction and story derivations were flawless, and if the viewer hadn't seen the original English movie, this movie would pass for an original production.
Sanjana (Kajol) looses her love, Rahul (Bijay Anand) to Nisha (Kashmira Shah). Sanjana goes after her love and on the plane flight meets Shekhar (Ajay Devg&127;a&127;&127;&127;n). Shekhar is a thief. Sanjana searches for her lost love as her baggage is stolen. Little does she know that Shekhar put some of his stolen goods into one of her bags. Shekhar then goes after her baggage with Sanjana and helps her out to find Rahul, as Rahul runs to Paali Hill. Shekhar falls in love with Sanjana on their trip to the vacation resort. Sanjana still is in love with Rahul, and when she reaches Paali Hill, she is still determined to separate Rahul and Nisha. Is she successful? What ever happened to Shekhar? Does Rahul succeed in breaking Sanjana's heart? You'll have to watch either French Kiss or Pyar To Hona Hi Tha to find out the answers.
Kajol, like usual, is brilliant in her role as Sanjana. She makes you cry, laugh, get angry, and smile all within the two and a half hour movie. Her acting is on par with Meg Ryan in the English flick. Ajay Devgan is nothing compared to Kevin Klien in the English flick, but does pull off the roll quite well. There is one scene with a train that was a typical Ajay Devgan stunt that wasn't in the English flick. Om Puri has a short stint as a police officer, and is brilliant. Kashmira Shah is perfect in her role as Nisha, and so is Bijay Anand as Rahul.
Jatin-Lalit's music is fantastic. The choreography and the picturization of the marriage song, "Aaj Hai Sagaai" has the best choreography and dancing. The rest of the songs are very pleasing to the ears. Direction is above average, Choreography is also above average, and shots in Switzerland and other European locations are great.
