Producer Ashok Tyagi is trying to produce what Navketan did 30 years ago with the megahit JEWEL THIEF. This film is supposed to be a "sequel". The movie starts of where JEWEL THIEF left off with Prince Arjun (an ancient ASHOK KUMAR), a super rich embezzler and expert con man, being released from jail. His one main goal in what is left of his life is to ruin the life of his bitter enemy, Vinay Kumar (a super DEV ANAND), who unmasked his evil crimes in the original JEWEL THIEF. After being proclaimed a hero by the entire world, Vinay Kumar is now a successful jewelry collector and a wealthy entrepreneur. The main plot kicks in after we meet Mr. Vinay Kumar. Vinay also has only one main goal in his now short life (what's with all this ambition?), to bring the Kohinoor, a beautiful and impressive gem belonging to the British government, back to India. For those of us who are deprived of world history, the Kohinoor was originally one of India's prized possession, until the Brits stole it before being kicked out of our beautiful country. Anyway, Vinay's goal is to bring the Kohinoor back to India for a short visit. Permission is granted by the British government. This news is all over the headlines in India and once again, Vinay is famous. A police officer, Officer Dharam (DHARMENDRA), is assigned to help with the security plan of the Kohinoor. We later find out that Dharam is Arjuns son. Then, Vinay gets a strange phone call from who is a secret admirer in disguise (the sexy ANU AGARWAL) telling him to meet her at her flat. Vinay arrives and is very shocked to see that a sexy dame like Anu is hitting on him. Anu tells Vinay that she is in love with him for being a national hero and for bringing the Kohinoor to India. Vinay comments on the fact that she is young enough to be his granddaughter but Anu doesn't care and hits on him some more. Vinay kindly declines and leaves. Then, out of the shadows of Anu's flat comes Prince Arjun. In this conversation, we find out that Anu is really a woman named Sheetal who is working for evil Arjun. Sheetal's job is to find out the security plan of the Kohinoor so that Arjun can steal it and accuse Vinay of the theft. Sheetal is ordered to seduce Vinay. Sheetal finally succeeds in having sex with Vinay in the backseat of his car and snaps pictures of the blueprint with her trusty mini camera. One of Arjun's thugs spots Sheetal taking pictures of the plan with a SECOND mini camera and then presumes that Sheetal is double crossing the Prince and working with someone else. He tells Arjun who, in a rage, gets the first set of photos from Sheetal and then has her killed. Bye Bye, Anu Agarwal. Then, Arjun contacts an expert jewel thief named Johnny (JACKIE SHROFF) to steal the Kohinoor. This is an offer that Johnny cant decline because Arjun kidnaps Johnny's girlfriend (SHILPA SHIRODKAR) and threatens to kill her if he doesn't do what he says. Just around that time, Dharam is getting frustrated because a number of riots have occurred on the behalf of the Kohinoor going back to Great Briton. Dharam voices his concerns to Vinay. At this point, the plot gets complicated. Johnny is really an undercover police officer who plans to arrest Arjun by stealing the Kohinoor from the museum and then taking Arjun in police custody for blackmail AND Kohinoor theft. That same night, Dharam and Vinay plan on taking the Kohinoor from the museum and leaving a fake in its place to keep is safe. After Dharam replaces it, Johnny arrives and steals it and replaces it with yet ANOTHER fake. Then, Johnny arrests Arjun and returns the Kohinoor back to the Indian government only to find out that what he thought was the REAL Kohinoor, was a FAKE. The real Kohinoor had been stolen BEFORE Johnny arrived. Then, in comes Madhu (MADHOO), a diamonds expert, and finds out that the Kohinoor Dharam stole was a fake too. Dharam is accused and the fact about his REAL FATHER is brought into the open. Dharam is not the thief but then who is? WHO HAS THE REAL STONE?

Performances are excellent on the parts of Jackie and Dev Anand. Ashok really has no role and is in this movie just for the name. Anu Agarwal acts well in her minimal role and really looks sexy in her revealing outfits. Shilpa is annoying. Madhoo looks good and acts well (as expected) in her tiny role. The songs are the real highlight of this film though. From Asha Bhonsle's "Sheher Mein Shor Hai" to the catchy "Chehera Haseen Hai", the soundtrack is a winner. All 8 songs are perfect and have a fast beat and catchy tunes. If you don't want the movie, at least buy the tape. Okay film, too complicated.
