ABCL might be able to improve the average quality of Hindi films today. The company's first production venture, Tere Mere Sapne, is an extremely pleasurable two and a half hour romp for the audience. Despite a new cast and crew, there is absolutely nothing shoddy about the quality of the film.
It is a romantic comedy with excellent performances by its cast, particularly Arshad Warsi Khan essaying the role of the amusing cab driver, Baloo. (Even Mr. Bachchan makes a nice contribution as narrator of the film in the prologue and epilogue.) I do not wish to ruin the story for other viewers so I will simply say that the film's story is similar to The Prince and the Pauper, but with a great Indianized treatment.
Music by Viju Shah is hip, trendy and intoxicating. Joy Augustine excels in his first venture as director of a feature film. Here is hoping that Tere Mere Sapne is a humongous success. It deserves hit status more than the atrocious Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi. Now we shall eagerly await for A.B.C.L.'s forthcoming productions including Naam Kya Hai, Mrityudaata, Rishtay and Saat Rang Ke Sapne.
