Now that ´Khakee´ has turned out to be the only success of 2004 and had it not been for the exhorbitant selling price , it could have obtained the elusive ´Hit´ tag by now .

However it won a lot of acclaim for the actors whose performances were liked by critics and the audience alike and we wonder whether Akshaye Khanna is finally happy that he didn´t remain a part of the film or sad for walking out of it .

As we know Akshaye was Santoshi´s first choice for the role that fell in Tusshar´s lap . Even before the multi-starrer could go in front of the cameras , Akshaye wanted changes to be effected in some of the scenes involving Akshay Kumar and himself . In particular , Vinod Khanna´s son was unhappy with the scenes in the first half , in which Akshay Kumar , playing his senior in the film was to address him a bit demeaningly and Akshay Khanna wanted those scenes to be changed . The director preferred to change the hero rather than the dialogue .

Of course , the parting of ways was done in a very dignified manner and there were no allegations from either side . Akshaye must have realised his mistake when he saw the film at a trial show , a couple of days before the release .

While Akshaye Khanna was unhappy with a few words to have been mouthed by Akshay Kumar , a senior actor like Amitabh Bachchan is shown ( in the film) being slapped by small-time actors . But Bachchan didn´t even ask Santoshi to change the scene !
