Rank Song Movie Singers Music
10 Pyaar Ko Ho Jaane Do Dushman Lata Mangeshkar & Kumar Sanu Uttam Singh

Uttam Singh is certainly no fluke. While his pre-Dil To Pagal Hai masterpieces, such as Waaris, may have gone relatively unnoticed, the audience loved the musicality in much of Dushman.

9 Tere Pyar Mein Zor Shankar Mahadevan & Hema Sardesai Agosh

If only Zor was a better movie. Based on this amazing soundtrack, Agosh have the ability to be among the front-line of Bollywood music directors.

8 Aati Kya Khandala Ghulam Aamir Khan, Alka Yagnik Jatin-Lalit

Nothing gets the audience more excited than their favourite star trying to croon a tune. In the seventies and eighties, it was Amitabh. In the nineties, it has so far been Aamir. Sanjay Dutt is next!

7 Jab Kisi Ki Taraf Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha Kumar Sanu Jatin-Lalit

Jatin-Lalit rip-off the opening riffs from Bryan Adam's "Have you ever loved a woman", to create an unforgettable and different Hindi love ballad.

6 Ae Ajnabi Dil Se Udit Narayan & Mahalakshmi A.R. Rahman

Goes to show that even a song playing in the background of a movie, can leave a strong lasting impression on the listener.

5 O Jaana Na Jaana Jab Pyaar Kisisse Hota Hai Lata Mangeshkar & Kumar Sanu Jatin-Lalit
It settles the debate. Can Lata sing appropriately for Twinkle Khanna? According to the success of this film and album, heck yes.
4 Jadoo Hai Tera Hi Ghulam Kumar Sanu & Alka Yagnik Jatin-Lalit

The magic of great melody. It truly does contribute to a "sweet pain"...

3 Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam Duplicate Udit Narayan & Alka Yagnik Anu Malik

These days, even when they do not deserve it, Shah Rukh movies are blessed with great songs... and gorgeous heroines.

2 Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Udit Narayan & Alka Yagnik Jatin-Lalit

A simple description about love, and yet so much meaning. The title song stands apart as brilliant even without the movie.

And, the Number 1 Song of 1998 is:

"Chal Chaiya Chaiya"

Movie:  Dil Se..
Singers:
Sukhwinder Singh & Sapna Awasthi
Music:
 A.R. Rahman

Did you notice that every Dil Se song made the Top 30 ranking? Hope to see more Ratnam, Gulzar and Rahman collaborations in the future, cause it is true! "Jin ke sar ho ishq ki chhaon, paon ke neeche jaanat hogi."
