Lawrence D’Souza’s new flick, Indian Babu has Nadeem Shravan
scoring the music and Sameer writing the lyrics.
So what else is new? Its almost a stamp that D’Souza’s flicks will have about eight boring songs by Nadeem Shravan. After Nadeem’s boasting (in London) about how the music of N-S is superior to
that of all other music directors, they come up with an album that is almost painful to listen to. Okay, it really is painful to listen to. I actually got a headache listening to it.
The first song “Aap Ko Humse Pyar” has Kumar Sanu singing as though he has his nostrils plugged. Alka Yagnik sings well, but the lyrics are boring, and the music is even worse. There is nothing original about this track, that too that it is inspired from "Apna Banana Hai" from Rishtey, coincidentally composed by the sons of Shravan, Sanjeev-Darshan.
The next song, believe it or not, is even worse. “Rabba O Rabba” has horrible lyrics, stressful singing, and overly repeated music. If Nadeem Shravan’s music wasn’t bad enough, Sameer’s lyrics are worst. Udit Narayan, Kunal and Alka Yagnik hit all the notes alright, but the chorus and the notes that they sing are not pleasing.
“Hum Deewane Hum Deewane Hain” has two versions, both sung by Jaspinder Narula and some qawaali singers. The music is, again, “stolen” from “Pardesi Pardesi”. Fast forward…
“Mere Sang Sang Naach Sajna” starts off promising, but steadily declines, although it remains as the best song in the album. The music and the lyrics still are horrible, but Alka Yagnik sings the song beautifully. Kumar Sanu is still very nasal.
Kumar Sanu and Sarika sing a Punjabi based number, “Aaya Dulha Aaya”. Maybe I shouldn’t even mention this number. Yes, it is that bad.
The item song of the album is “I want to take you higher”. What was Sameer thinking when he wrote this song? Nadeem Shravan don’t do anything to make the song better and Kay Kay should avoid songs like this.
There really isn’t any reason for anybody to go waste their money on this album. In most of these songs the percussion is horrible and overdone. If you really want to spend some money and buy a CD, try buying something a little bit better done, like Jhankaar Beats.
