There used to be a time when Indra Kumarīs films boasted of a catchy soundtrack, examples being Dil, Beta, Ishq and Mann. However Kumarīs last two films Rishtey and Aashiq had average-below average songs. Indra Kumarīs latest project, Masti, takes a step further from Rishtey and Aashiq and goes into the awful category. Anand Raaj Anand came into the limelight after the success of Kaante. Sadly however, he hasnīt been able to come up with anything to match Kaante or exceed it. Masti was probably Anandīs best chance of coming back given the director and cast. However, it looks like he didnīt take that chance too seriously.

Ek Kunwara Phir Gaya Maara sung by Abhijeet and Udit Narayan opens the album. The song is catchy and fun to listen thanks to the energetic singing and catchy (although typical) beats. The lyrics are thematic/situational and nothing out of the ordinary. An average opener for the album.

Sameer continues his miserable attempts at writing English lyrics in Chori Chori Chhora Chhori. Shaan and Sneha Pant croon through this pathetic number which lyrics like īon the roof.. in the rain

Dil De Diya Hai is the mandatory sad/situational number sung by Anand Raj Anand himself. The song is passable, nothing out of the ordinary. Most likely itīll be picturised in the background fitting the situations on screen. The makers of the movie along with Anand and Sameer should be punished for using the famous Chain Kuli Ki Main Kuli phrase from Satta Pe Satta in such horrible song. Udit Narayan and Shaan try to infuse life into the song but the pathetic lyrics and horrible music are hardly able to hold any interest. These types of songs are perhaps the reason why the īskipī button on CD decks was invented.

Meghna Oberoi, Vivek Oberoiīs younger sister, makes her debut as playback singer in Saiyanji Baiyyan Chhudake where she also has Gayatri Iyer and Sneha Pant for company. In the trio of singerīs itīs hard to distinguish whoīs who. Given the mediocrity of the song, one would wonder why Meghna chose to debut with such a song? Hereīs another song that will make you reach for the īskipī button. As custom with T-Series these days, the exact same version of the song is repeated once again on the CD.

Instrumental versions of Ek Kunwara Phir Gaya Maara and Dil De Diya Hai are also featured on the album.

Masti is undoubtedly a waste of time and money. There should be a warning label of some sorts that needs to be put on the cassette/CD cover saying "Waste money at your own risk, product STINKS". A major disappointment comes with the fact that a talented personality like Ranjit Barot, who has arranged all but one song on the album, is associated with project. Even heīs unable to make anything interesting. Moreover, itīs sad to see that a director who used to have a good taste of music is losing that taste with each subsequent release.
