Directed by S.J. Suryah, who has also written the script and screenplay, Khushi is without a hesitation, a love story. However, as constantly babbled, the treatment of a love story can out and out change the aura of a film. With that said, the pre-release screenings of the film have garnered just that positive outcome. Aside from style, the film is said to have been laced with the groovingly symbolic picturizations which underlie the emotions of the main leads Karan (Fardeen Khan), and Khushi (Kareena Kapoor). For one, "Tere Bina" has been adjudged one of the best choreographed songs of 2003. Not only are several moods interlarded with a variety of intrinsic colors but the song itself has been on the charts since the soundtrack released. These two youthful college students born far apart are brought together with
the simple ideal that "they were destined to meet". Naturally we are
forced to believe this since - despite original plans - these two students end
up studying together at Mumbai students. Karan originally wanted to study
elsewhere, and Khushi did as This experience allows them to explore each other but in every step they continue to insist that they do not have feelings for each other. Their similarity in characters are what distances them. Khushi, being the light of life for her family has always been a kind hearted but strong girl who is truly fun at heart. Karan is no different. Unfortunately, the time comes when they must part and must accept that they must choose to either be together or not and come to terms with their feelings for each other. To do this they must get over the flaws in their characters, their obstinacy and egos, together. Khushi is the experience described between these two lover destined to be.
