Two Steps Forward

Bollywood´s direction towards change is taking another step forward. This year alone, science fiction films have reincarnated themselves in Hindi cinema in the form of children films like the most recent J2M2. However, Film Kraft studios is taking that step even further in its gargantuan home production Koi Mil Gaya, a filmed aimed at all audiences mounted on an utmost expensive budget. Kaho Na Pyaar Hai was 2000´s biggest hit and was just as much speculated and pinnacled for being nothing more than your typical pot boiler. Director Rakesh Roshan has answered that call with what is in reality the biggest science fiction film released in India, and whom better to star in it than thee who is probably one of the biggest successes in terms of star children, Hrithik Roshan. Even from a star who has been put down in recent times for choosing films with at times indistinguishable scripts, Koi Mil Gaya is certainly going to be the milestone "different" film of his career.

Of Man And Alien

Koi Mil Gaya features Rekha playing Hrithik´s mother, Preity Zinta as his one female aficionado, and the most talked about, six children who are Hrithik Roshan´s true supporters. But what this film has that no other even came close to is an alien. Bimmini FX of Australia in coordination with several other foreign special effects studios, have created the human like alien creatures of the film and other extra terrestrial objects to go with it, James Colmer, of the studio, is known for his work in many Hollywood films like Independence Day. Producer/Director Rakesh Roshan also features in the film briefly as Hrithik Roshan´s father.

Different Film, Different Music

Rajesh Roshan, the composer for all Rakesh Roshan films has the enviable task of re-creating another hit soundtrack as he did in many of his previous FilmKraft films. The Roshan´s have promised nothing extremely different but something that will create an ambiance for the film itself. The catchy title track is already popular as the soundtrack was just released on  Sa Re Ga Ma.

Weird or Realistic

Written by accredited scribes like Honey Irani, Robin Bhatt, Javed  Siddiqui and Sachin Bhaumik, Koi Mil Gaya is much more than your Walt Disney tale of befriending those who are not like you. Hrithik Roshan has taken on the commanding job of playing a retarded child. Koi Mil Gaya is somewhere in between weird and realistic and is promised to be utmost heartwarming. The story of what he encounters is as follows.

Rohit Mehra (Hrithik Roshan) is the son of Sanjay Mehra (Rakesh Roshan), a scientist densely involved in discovering life on

other planets. Prior to Rohit´s birth, Sanjay and his wife Sonia (Rekha) were involved in a fatal accident which proved to be the demise of Sanjay. The accident left their child, Rohit, mentally retarded. Rohit grows up happily with his handicaps enjoying the beauty of the world he surrounds, however, he is not accepted in such a manner by everyone around him. The only people who stand by him are his six young friends (known as the super six) and Nisha (Preity Zinta). Nisha is a strong peppy girl who understands Rohit greatly, but did not initially.

Rohit decides to look into his father´s old work, the technology he had and the computer he used. This little investigation leads to a rather big discovery. A blackout suddenly hits their town and Nisha and Rohit are greeted by a stranger, more stranger than others. Rohit and Nisha face their discovery and its impact on the world. What have they found and how will it change their lives is the tale of Koi Mil Gaya (I have found someone).
