Ayesha Shroff in combination with husband Jackie Shroff’s production team, Quest films, may have started off on a timid note with Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hain. The sophisticated comedy was a pretty small start for what is now a big production unit. Anyone who would like to question the magnitude of the production team can just take a look into their future films, Sandhya and Boom and will easily see the direction the team is headed in.

With Sandhya the team in combination with director Sangeeth Sivan has set out to create Bollywood’s must unique horror story. Completely in tandem with the standards previously set by films like Raaz or Raat, Sandhya is much more than your typical Bollywood horror film, and this much evident from the stylish promotional campaign the film has. In addition, Anand Raj Anand, who was perfect in Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hain, has composed music of rock styled nature not only to enhance the fear of the film, but the occurrences as well. The soundtrack is said to be much different from the typical soundtracks we hear. One looks forward to the soundtrack, as there was a great deal of confusion as to who was exactly doing the score. Previously it was believed that Sandeep Chowta was. But that is all forgotten once the story of Sandhya is revealed. The horror-psychological thriller even has Jackie Shroff under his much used affectionate nick name “Jaggu”. On the acting side, this is one of the many films that Jackie Shroff and Raveena Tandon have in the pipeline. And Sophiya Haque’s role in the film has been highly hyped up.

Experience The Fear

Sandhya is the story of Dr. Singhania (Ashutosh Rana). As the film begins, we are witness the murder of his entire family. The doctor, who runs an institution, eventually loses his mind in pain and despair. He is eventually placed in his own institution, for which he remains until he is somewhat recovered. After he is released he decides to convert the home to a nursing home and title it “Sandhya”, meaning twilight.

However, he soon realizes that he can’t live without his departed wife and child. As time approaches for the anniversary of their death the pain just becomes more and more unbearable. It is then that he decides that he must do something about his agony. Shockingly, he comes to the conclusion that he must end his life, and to do so he hires Jaggu (Jackie) to kill him on the same date that his family was killed.

As the day approaches things turn out to be much different than what meets the eye. What seemed liked a legitimate plan and an easy job for Jaggu turns out much different. Much more horrifying, for him and all of those involved, because what happens next is not only scary it is frankly unbelievable. Not only is Jaggu involved but many others. Aptly titled twilight, for it is believed that at that moment, where there is no light and there is no dark, where it is not day and it is not night, anything can happen. Anything.
