One of the best qualities of Salman Khan is the example tha he sets for helping others. Through his many acts of personal kindness and philanthropy, Salman inspired a group of his fans to follow his example. In 2006, this group of fans, from many different countries around the globe, decided to celebrate Salman's birthday by collecting donations among themselves and delivering them to St. Anthony's Age Care Home in Mumbai, an organization which is sponsored by Salman.
They contacted the Foundation and obtained instructions on the procedure for donating. The contributors were spread across many countries -- India, Pakistan, U.S.A., France, Germany, Romania, and Australia. One of the members, who resides in India, acted as the coordinator and collected all donations in a special bank account set up for this purpose. When all donations had been received, he drew the bank check payable to the Salman Khan Foundation, arranged the time of meeting with the SKF staff , and then travelled to Mumbai, where he was joined by another member of the forum. Together they met the SKF staff person on December 27, and handed over the check, as well as a birthday banner and some small gifts for Salman.
This whole project exemplifies what a positive impact Salman has on the world. The people who got together for this effort do not even know each other, have never met, or even talked, in most cases. Their entire acquaintance and friendship has been formed over the internet. They represent different nationalities, ethnicities, and religions. The one common factor that brought them together is their love and admiration for Salman!
