 Prakash Jha, whose previous film Raajneeti won many accolades, is currently filming Aarakshan in Bhopal. While Jha has written the screenplay of the film with Anjum Rajabali. Aarakshan’s story was developed by critically acclaimed writer Kamlesh Pandey (Delhi-6, Rang De Basanti, Aks, Thakshak, Dil, Tezaab) who conducted extensive research in Varanasi while developing the story . “Aarakshan is the first film that traces the connection between the reservation policy of the Government of India and the rise of mafia in Uttar Pradesh,” said Kamlesh Pandey. “It also explores the failure of the education system in India which, on one hand, feeds the mafia workforce in UP, and on the other hand corrupt bureaucracy. The film asks the question why and how the toppers in IAS and IPs ultimately turn out to be corrupt bureaucrats?”
