2011 has been a great year for singer Suraj Jagan, with song releases from big budget films like ‘Jaa Chudail’ (Delhi Belly) & ‘Dil Dhadkane Do’ from (Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara), to smaller budget films like, ‘Karma Is A Bitch’ (Shor In The City ), 'Akkad Bakkad' (Bhindi Bazaar Inc), 'Fareeda' (Shaitan), 'Koi Aa Raha Hai Paas Hai' (Pyaar Ka Punchnama) etc.

His latest songs from Delhi Belly & Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, are polar opposites. ‘Jaa Chudail’ speaks of a broken heart, with humorous lyrics, peppered with satire, scorn, angst & sung in a hard rock style, whereas ‘Dil Dhadkane do’ from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is a carefree, feel good song . Suraj's versatility shines through once again breaking the barriers of “vocal styles” in Bollywood.

‘Jaa Chudail’ was recorded last year and Suraj was very unsure if this song would make it to the film soundtrack. The lyrics that portray the angst in the song are unique & the singing that was required for the song was raw & heavy, something that is alien to Bollywood. It was only a month back when Suraj got the news that the song was to be part of the Delhi Belly soundtrack.

To the success of ‘Jaa Chudail’ Suraj Jagan states, “Love or hate it, this song is here to stay, as the response has been phenomenal from both the music critics & most importantly the listeners. The song is humorous & needs to be heard & viewed in the spirit of fun & definitely should not be taken too seriously. Ultimately the song connects to the script of the film & its relevance will be seen once the film is released. Hats off to Ram Sampat & Aamir Khan for experimenting with different sounds, & for walking the less taken, courageous path in Bollywood. I am very fortunate to be part of path breaking films like Delhi Belly & others like ‘Rock On’ & ‘3 Idiots’.”

Speaking about the spate of new music directors entering Bollywood Suraj says, “Its wonderful to see & work with new talent entering the Bollywood music scene. Young Music directors like Sachin – Jigar, Sandeep-Surya, Hitesh Sonik, Prashant Pillai are all very talented & are bringing fresh new sounds to Bollywood.”

On his latest song with SEL, Suraj is immensely happy with the way ‘Dil Dhadkane Do’ from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara has turned out. “The freshness & feel good vibe of the song is what SEL do best. I love the influence of Rock and the balance of Bollywood in this song. It is one of my favourite releases in 2011.” This song has been promoted in all the trailers & initial promos of the film & sets the pace of what one can expect from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

Suraj has been busy performing all over India at various college festivals & concerts. At present he is working on a Hindi Rock album which should be released in the latter part of 2011.
