- Pankaj Kumar Sinha           Let us know what you think about this feature article

Bollywood has been ruled by Khan Troika of Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan for more than twenty five years now. They have been churning all time blockbusters and blockbusters consistently. At the end of the year, it is one of the Khan's films, which is on top of the box office chart. No actor has been able to challenge their might at the box office. Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan's films have also met with great success at the box office but the biggest successes belongs to the Khans only. In the last decade, we have seen emergence of young stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Varun Dhawan whose movies have done well at the box office. They are seen as stars who can overwhelm the box office carts to their favor and dismantle the Khan's monopoly at the box office.

Ranbir Kapoor has debuted with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Saawariya' in 2007. He has completed a decade in the industry and proved his mettle as an actor. We have no doubts that he is the best actor of his generation. But, he has not able to generate that level of moolah at the box office. Ranbir Kapoor needs to prove his might at the box office. One's film doing one hundred crore business in India is normal these days. His movies need to break the barrier of two hundred crores and three hundred crores in India. An actor's stardom is proved with the first day collections, first weekend collections and first week collections at the box office. The actors wanting to be stars cannot run away from this. Aamir Khan is the best example of striking a good balance between being an actor and star at the box office. If Aamir Khan is Sachin Tendulkar than Ranbir Kapoor needs to be like Virat Kohli. He has to do films that turn out to be all time blockbusters.

Ranveer Singh is another young actors of this generation who has the potential to be a superstar. He is right now a media made superstar and has long way to go at as far as box office success is concerned. Ranveer Singh is an energetic actor and takes his entertainer tag very seriously in real life too. He has also shown his mettle as an actor by doing different genres of films and trying different characters. Aditya Chopra's 'Befikre' was his big ticket to superstardom but the film failed at the box office. He has a mixed bag of hits and flops at the box office. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Bajirao Mastani' was his biggest success at the box office but the film maker got most of the credit for making such a beautiful film. There were female superstars like Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra to support the film. Ranveer Singh needs to be tested at the box office with his next few solo films to prove his stardom.

Varun Dhawan has been the most consistent actor as far as commercial success is concerned. He is yet to see failure in his career. He has been clever in his choice of films. He has struck a balnce with a 'Badlapur' and an 'ABCD 2' smartly. Varun Dhawan is a good looking actor and a great dancer. We should not forget he has the best comic timing in this generation of actors. He interacts with media very well. He has the right ingredients to become a superstar. These are the early days of his career. His movies have been safe at the box office but now he needs to take his movies ahead of safety zone. Varun Dhawan has to take charge at the box office battle. Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Varun Dhawan need all time blockbusters in their film kitty. Their movies need to show bigger numbers at the box office to challenge the Khans' dominance at the box office.
