- Pankaj Kumar Sinha           Let us know what you think about this article

The biggest superstar of India today, undoubtedly, is Salman Khan and the mathematics of box office has been speaking that aloud. His latest release 'Sultan', directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, has hit gold at the box office. The masses and theclasses have liked the film at all centers in India and the film has also found appreciation in the overseas market. The movie has joined the 100 crores club in India in three days. The film has been getting rave reviews from critics and Salman Khan's performance has been getting lot of appreciation for this film.

There is a dialogue in 'Sultan' that goes "Sultan ko sultan hi haraa sake" and we feel the same about the same aboutSalman Khan's hold over the box office. Salman Khan has been breaking his own box office records. His last ten films have been a part of the 100 crore club at in India and this is a phenomenal record unmatched by any other star in our country. This speaks about his true superstardom in the right sense in our country. We all know that box office is the true measure for the stardom of any actor. The first three days collection belongs to the star and after that only word of mouth helps or breaks the film. Salman Khan has a similar aura of Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth aand enjoys the kind of success that these superstars had at their peak.

Salman Khan's choice of films has been good in th recent past. Both 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' and 'Sultan' had good stories to tell with an underlying message in each of them. As an actor, he has raised his bar and is putting more effort in his performances which can be easily noticed. 'Sultan' can be called his career best performance. He has got his Haryanvi accent well and also worked hard on his physique for the role of a wrestler. Salman Khan is good at action scenes, performing unique dance steps and has become a master at dialogue delivery. The character Sultan Ali Khan overpowers Chulbul Pandey, Radhey Mohan, Prem and Pavan Chaturvedi from his previous films. His charisma overshadows other actors. When Salman Khan is on the screen, your eyes only move towards him.

We have a lot of younger actors like Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra, Sushant Singh Rajput and Tiger Shroff, whose movies have been doing well at the box office but nobody is able to challenge the Khan troika of Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan at the top. These younger actors have to work harder and be a part of more entertaining films to build their fan base and break the barriers at box office collection consistently. The box office is the only true measure of a star. The awards are more like farce at bollywood and 90% of the industry does not believe in them. There is a lot of politics in that.

Salman Khan has raised his bar further with 'Sultan' as an actor and also as a superstar. We are looking forward to better, more entertaining films from him. He needs to be careful with his choice of scripts and roles. We want him to do bigger films and raise his bar as a performer with each film and break his own box office record. He should stay away from Southern remakes and work with reputed film makers and with big production houses who would offer him original stories with all commercial ingredients of entertaining films. We do not mind seeing him in a villainous character, which he has not played in his career. I would conclude this piece by saying that Salman Khan is the real Sultan of bollywood.
