- Pankaj Kumar Sinha           Let us know what you think about this article

The audience will witness the clash of young titans Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh for super stardom this year. Ranbir Kapoor will be seen in Dharma Productions' 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' directed by prominent film maker Karan Johar and Ranveer Singh's 'Befikre' will be helmed by Aditya Chopra. Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra are master story tellers and excel at romance. They have played great role in making Shahrukh Khan romance king with their films like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Mohabbatein, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Both Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh are coming with the biggest film of their respective careers and success of these films will take them to a new level.

Ranbir Kapoor, the great grandson of showman Late Raj Kapoor and son of prominent actors Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh began his acting career with Sanjay Leela Bhansali 'Saawariya' in 2007. The film failed at box office but the critics felt that this Kapoor scion has tremendous potential. His next 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' got success at the box office and his female fanbase grew with this movie. 'Wake up Sid' was a turning point of his career. The movie did well at multiplexes and his acting was appreciated. 'Ajab Gajab Prem Ki Kahani', 'Rocket Singh - Salesman of the Year' and 'Rajneethi' consolidated his position as an actor and his stardom also increased by leaps and bounds. In between, two or three of his films did not do well at the box office but he always left his mark as an actor

'Rockstar' and 'Barfi' changed Ranbir Kapoor's career for good and won him couple of best actor awards. The success of these films at the box office changed his perspective and approach towards his choice of films. 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' was the biggest commercial success of his career and this is the only movie closest to catering to strata of audience. The success of the film made him the new prince of Bollywood and it looked that he will challenge the Khan trio of Shahrukh, Salman and Aamir Khan's rule at the box office for the last two decades. In the last two and a half years, all his films have failed at the box office and there is a question mark about his choice of films in industry. Ranbir needs to do films catering to the masses and build on his stardom. With 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil', he will complete a decade in the industry and this will be a big film for him.

Ranveer Singh had a dream debut in Yash Raj Films' 'Band Baaja Baaraat' opposite Anushka Sharma. He was a revelation as an actor in his first movie and the movie met with lot of success even when there were not many expectations from this film. His choice of films as an actor has been good. He strikes a balance between commercial films and doing different films. 'Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, 'Lootera', 'Gunday', 'Ram Leela', 'Kill Dil', 'Dil Dhadkne Do' and 'Bajirao Mastani' have built up a good repertoire of films and also shown him varied characters in his six years career. The couple of films have not done well at the box office but others have got success at the box office. He got rave reviews for his performance in 'Bajirao Mastani' and won the best actor Filmfare award and the movie did better business than the Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Dilwale' which had erleased on the same today.

Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh have one film each which has been a part of te hundred crore club at the domestic box office. They need to be more consistent at the box office and become bigger force to reckon with. The awards by critics are good but the box office will show your power as a star. The box office is the real battle ground for the actors. Many actors have come and gone but the Khan Troika has still been ruling at box office for last 25 years. Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh have that potential and they need to work harder to prove that. Both actors are mostly working with prominent film makers of the country. The expectations are very high from these two young actors. They need to do more films catering to the masses. 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' and 'Befikre' will be the beginning of the box office battle between Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh.
