It appears Abhishek Bachchan has had bad luck in reeling in the audiences to see his films. Unfortunately, Himesh Reshammiya does little to improve his chances in Boney Kapoor’s

Run. The musical team of Bhumika Chawla’s first film, Tere Naam is repeated here but to no avail. The music for Run pales distinctly in comparison to Tere Naam.

Tips has returned after an almost lengthy hiatus and Run is not going to do anything to propel them back to a top chart position. But even amidst all these disappointments, Run is undoubtedly a mark for Alka Yagnik who has her first complete (well barring one song) album after a very long time. Alka has sung in seven of the eight songs on this album. Pity the outcome is not as good as it should be.

"Tere Mere Pyar Ka Chand†and “Dil Mein Jo Baat†are the same song. Tips has taken a page out of the T-Series book and repeated the same song but changed the title just a bit. Sadly, It is with great disgust that I write that the song is a complete and bitter rip off of “Deewana Hai Dekho†from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Yes, the multi-starrer that anyone who is anyone has heard a song from. To have it repeated twice makes it all the much worst and tasteless. Sonu Nigam hasn’t even changed an alto from the former track, as Alka hasn’t either. In fact besides the blatant rip off of the former song, Sonu Nigam is the most unattractive thing in the song (and arguably the soundtrack). I guess plagiarism in the music industry is still very alive. Only Sameer can make a song where one word is repeated at least five times on string (“Chhalâ€) and make it sound like it is supposed to be okay.

“Chain Ho Chain Ho†sounds like your typical Anu Malik number. Sonu Nigam opens the number with the “dilruba†line, which sounds a lot like Kay Kay is singing it. The song is mildly entertaining as the music is passable but again is just another romantic song.

“Nahi Hona†is nothing more than a re-hash of the many qawaali’s Reshammiya has composed including the recent one in Ishq Hai Tumse. Richa Sharma is accredited aside Kunal. Kunal dominates the song but everything lacks inspiration. Richa is wasted and sounds loud and shrieky. And, as expected, when Sameer is penning the lyrics nothing extremely creative can be around.

“Tere Aane Se†is another Kumar Sanu comeback song, which has been ruined by the composer. After a few songs in Plan, Kumar Sanu has once again tried his best at making a bad song listenable. Neither him nor Alka can do it. The lyrics are out of knack with the music and the song is out of tune undoubtedly. Nothing much to listen to even if the song is repeated in a slightly remixed version later on in the soundtrack.

There are two average songs on the sub-par soundtrack. They are “Sarki Chunariya Re Zara Zara†and “Bade Nazuk Daur Seâ€. While “Sarki Chunariya Re Zara Zara†attempts to repeat “Oodni†from Tere Naam both lyrically and composition wise it tries to hard to sound decent. Udit Narayan and Alka are average. For once we are saying welcome to a

jhankaar styled song in “Bade Nazuk Daur Seâ€, as Alka and Kumar are repeated again. Even at its best this is not a song that will make you feel like buying this soundtrack was worth it.

Conclusively, the soundtrack is filled with a large array of pointless romantic songs. The musical arrangements sound like they were done to just make songs to put in a film rather than entertain listeners. There is no appeal at all. The lyrics as boring as they are lengthy and congested making it seem like Himesh Reshammiya had a tough job trying to compose the soundtrack or was very uninspired when he did. Boring is too nice a word to describe the music for “Runâ€.
