Jhoot Bole Kauwa Kaate  is Hrishikesh Mukherjee's comeback film. He gave us some memorable romantic comedies in the 70's and 80's like Golmaal and Naram Garam. Music rarely played a big part in making his films successful. However, there are a couple of gems in his past films, like my personal favorite "Aanewala Pal…" from Golmaal. Jhooth Bole Kauwa Kaate is supposed to be the last piece of the Golmaal and Naram Garam trilogy.

"Kya Rakhoon Tera Naam" sung by Udit Narayan is a beautiful number, and can easily qualify as the best track from the album. Anand Bakshi's lyrics are praiseworthy. In my opinion, this is the best song he has written since "Bholi Si Surat…" from Dil To Pagal Hai. Anand Milind have done a wonderful job with this track, and it should be liked by a lot of people. Udit Narayan does a great job.

Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik get together for two medium paced love duets. The better of the two is "Dil Ye Dil Darne Laga." The other, "Aankhon Mein Akeli Raaton Mein" is not bad, but not as good as the former. Alka Yagnik sounds nice. However it is Udit Narayan who steals the show in "Dil Ye Dil Darne Laga." Anand Bakshi again provides some good lyrics.

The title song sung by Shiamak Davar and chorus is just average. Shiamak Davar doesn't sound all that bad. This is his first song in a hindi film.

The remaining three songs are situational songs. The best of the three is "Badi Mushkil Hai" sung by Udit Narayan, Abhijeet, Vinod Rathod, and Alka Yagnik. The track sounds fresh because there are no vulgar lyrics and the singers render the song nicely.

"Dear O Dear" sung by Abhijeet is a very short track. It's somewhat different than the other songs of today because Abhijeet spells out most of the words before saying them. The whole song is in english.

"Mama I Love You" sung by Alka Yagnik and Vinod Rathod is another situational song. It's one of those songs that sound better when you see it on screen rather then listening to it on the CD. The song is probably picturized on Anupam Kher and Juhi Chawla because Anupam Kher plays Juhi's mama (uncle) in the film.
