This album is probably Vishal's worst album (though he has only composed for
three films before this one) that he has composed. The album has probably three songs that
are worth listening. However, that doesn't mean that the crafting of the music itself
isn't bad. I found the music itself to be better than the songs.
"Aandi aai Jaandi aai" is a punjabi style number sung by Sukhvinder and Hema Sardesai. The song is not the best one of the album, but it is worth listening to.
"Mitwa Re" is the best song of the album. It is sung by Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik. The flute is used very well. The song is slow paced, but this might be the song that makes to the charts. As far as the singing of the song is concerned, Alka Yagnik does a good job. Kumar Sanu is ok, he messes up in the middle of the stanzas when he has to sing the high notes.
"Ma Pe Put" is sung by Alka Yagnik and Ram Shankar. The song is I think a "children type" song. As the song concludes some hijra's join in to sing a few lines.
"Tum Dono Ho Ek Se" is sung by Lata Mangeshkar, Suresh Wadkar, and Hariharan. This song is another song in which the mother is telling her sons that she loves them and they should love each other. Nothing new. Hariharan and Suresh Wadkar are only in the song to sing the last two lines.
"Prem Mein Pagal Ho Gayee Meera" is a holi song. It's sung by Suresh Wadkar, Asha Bhonsale, Vishwajeet, and Brahmachary. The song could've been a good one, if there wasn't a stupid "jazzy" stanza in the middle of the song. Suresh Wadkar again proves that he can sing fast paced songs, and not just slow paced and classical based songs.
"Maa Ki Mamta (part I, II, III)" are again sung by Hariharan, Suresh Wadkar, and Lata Mangeshkar. The songs is the same as "Tum dono ho ek se" but this time Hariharan and Suresh Wadkar have a couple of more lines to sing.
"Oh No" is sung by Hariharan and Kavita Krishnamurthy. It's another song where the hero is trying to "patayo" our heroine. Hariharan's talents are wasted in this song, as he cannot this type of song due to his voice. I mean Abhijeet would've been a better choice since he sounds younger then Hariharan. No offense to Hariharan fans, because I am one too.
"Hadh Ho Gayee" concludes the album. The singers are Sonu Nigam and Chandana Dixit. The song is okay, but the lyrics are somewhat below average. The singers do an okay job.
"Sham Ghansham" is defintely an album one should not strongly consider buying. If you are a Vishal fan, the only thing you will find good about this song is "Mitwa Re." As far as the film itself is concerned, most of the cast includes newcomers. The film stars Rakhee, Chandrachur Singh, Arbaaz Khan, Priya Gill, and Lambe Naakwaali (a.k.a. Pooja Batra). Also, this is the first film as a director for Ashok Ghai (Subhash Ghai's brother).
