| Himesh Reshammiya makes his presence felt in the chart this week, with ‘Rabba Luck Barsa’ as a clear winner from Kajraare. The composer in him also shines with the two solid entries of Milenge Milenge, which coupled with tailored lyrics and singing, allow the soundtrack sail through easily. Rahman’s Raavan is solid at Number One despite the backlash of the movie among movie buffs. Mithoon’s Lamhaa does wonders again and with practically little to no competition in that genre, his sound and style have again been appreciated. However, it is important that he proves himself as a versatile music composer in the future, with more innovations. As a young composer, he has already showed great potential. The rest, time will tell! Last week’s releases Mr.Singh Mrs.Mehta Music: Ustad Shujaat Husain Khan, Lyrics: Amitabh Varma A change is the treatment of music and sound are always welcomed and this is what Mr.Singh Mrs.Mehta is all about! The music is a journey to wonderful tunes, soulful singing, captivating lyrics and simple orchestration. Full credit goes to the music team. ‘Fariyaad Hai’ by Richa Sharma is a beautifully composed and rendered piece, which will make music lovers ask for more. If you liked ‘Kithe Jawan’ from Chamku, then don’t miss ‘Fariyaad Hai’! ‘Ai Khuda’ by Ustad Shujaat Husain Khan is another satisfactory performance and rendition from the composer-singer. ‘Barhaan Dil’ by Shreya Ghoshal brings back memories from the 60’s and has music and singing highly reminiscent from the old era. The rest of the songs are an amalgamation of the 90’s melody. Overall, a value for money soundtrack, with melodious songs and instrumental versions.Khatta Meetha Music: Pritam, Shani , Lyrics: Irshad Kamil, Shehzad Roy and Nitin Raikwar At last, Kunal Ganjawala is given a good song in ‘Nana Chi Taang’, who is simply fantastic in the ‘antara’. The fun continues with a series of similar composed tunes. ‘Sajde’ is a departure from this style and is the compulsory romantic song of the soundtrack, which makes a good listen, but nothing spectacular. Khatta Meetha has youthful and peppy music, but unfortunately will be quickly forgotten in a few months, as it does not have a long shelf life! Tere Bin Laden Music: Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Ali Zafar and Dhruv Dhalla, Lyrics: Jaideep Sahni and Ali Zafar ‘I Love Amreeka’ is the catchiest song of all and there is no surprise why it comes in three versions! The other song by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is ‘Ullu Da Pattha’, which aptly summarizes the mood when the trio composed this song. Dhruv Dhalla and Ali Zafar’s contribution are average. Tere Bin Laden is amateurish, but still brings a smile on one’s face after one thorough listen. |
