Our film and television industry has often had cast members with names similar to any other fellow actor which often creates confusion amongst the fans. An instance like this occurred recently where TV actor Imran Khan who’s currently seen in Star Plus and Hotstar’s latest ‘Divya Drishti’ was mistaken as Imran Khan(Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Luck etc.) by the audience attending one of his theatrical play.
Imran Khan was a part of the play ‘Aadaab Mai Premchand Hoon’ taking place in Andheri, where a few fans met him after the show telling that they were expecting Amir Khan’s nephew to be a part of it when they read about the cast of the play.
A member of the audience quoted, “We saw an advertisement for the play and being theatre fans, we got excited that maybe Aamir Khan’s nephew was going to perform. When the show began we found it was not the Imran Khan we thought of but the play was so good that it got us hitched anyway.”
“A number of members from the audience congratulated me for the play and my performance amongst which a couple of people told me that they initially thought that Imran Khan from the movies is going to be a part of it. Although even when they found out it wasn’t who they expected they chose to stay because they never expected to see what they saw. This at a point pinched me but also made me realise the power of a good drama and script.” said Imran Khan.
“This wasn’t the first time when someone had mistaken me for someone else because of our names. I’ve had multiple experiences in the past where people came up to me in search for the wrong Imran. I even used to get calls asking for him for a long time. I am used to being mistaken for somebody else,” continued the ‘Divya Drishti’ actor.
Imran has been a part of a lot of television shows namely ‘Humse Hai Liife’, ‘Dastaan’, ‘Astitva’, ‘Naagin’, ‘Beintehaa’, ‘Beyhadh’ and many more with ‘The Legend of Bhagat Singh’, ‘Khiladiyon ka Khiladi’, ‘Dil Toh Bacha Hai Ji’, ‘Heroine’, ‘Sooryavansham’ being some of the hit movies he’s been a part of.
Imran Khan has been the part of TV and film industry for more than 25 years now but this confusion amongst the names seems to be never-ending.
