Mira Nair commenced the shooting of her new film ´The Namesake´ , in New York last week . It is based on Jhumpa Lahiri´s novel of the same name and the screenplay has once again been written by Mira´s old associate Sooni Taraporewala . Starring Kal Penn , Tabu and Irrfan Khan , it is being produced by Lydia Dean Pitcher with whom Mira had co-produced ´Hysterical Blindness´ for Searchlight Pictures . UTV´s Ronnie Screwala is the executive producer.
