It was touted as Delhi's biggest star show with such stars as Shah Rukh Khan , Saif Ali Khan , Rani Mukerji and Amisha Patel . The proceeds were to go to charity and the expected audience turnout 38,000 . Instead , Temptations 2005 scheduled for September 17 , has come a cropper with the usual suspects , the police and fire department playing spoilsport .
Abidi says he approached the Sports Authority of India for permission to use the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium as a venue but the stadium authorities , routed him to the fire services for clearance , which was refused . Abidi then approached the Ministry of Urban Development for the land outside the Nehru stadium but Delhi Police had an objection . " On the very last day , we were told that handling a huge gathering of 38,000 people would be a problem . So , we agreed to cut down to 10,000 people . But Delhi Police refused us again ," says Abidi . The last option Abidi could think of was to approach the Union Human Resource Development Minister , Arjun Singh . " I knocked all the doors of the so called 'power ' corridors , but to my dismay nothing worked out . I had to decide to scrap the show for the time being , " he said .
