According to Jaaved Abidi , executive director for the National Centre for Promotion of Employement of Disabled People ( NCPEDP) , the show has been cancelled due to a " ping-pong" battle between the Sports Authority of India , the fire department and the police .

Abidi says he approached the Sports Authority of India for permission to use the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium as a venue but the stadium authorities , routed him to the fire services for clearance , which was refused . Abidi then approached the Ministry of Urban Development for the land outside the Nehru stadium but Delhi Police had an objection .

" On the very last day , we were told that handling a huge gathering of 38,000 people would be a problem . So , we agreed to cut down to 10,000 people . But Delhi Police refused us again ," says Abidi .

The last option Abidi could think of was to approach the Union Human Resource Development Minister , Arjun Singh . " I knocked all the doors of the so called 'power ' corridors , but to my dismay nothing worked out . I had to decide to scrap the show for the time being , " he said .
