A R Rahman To Record Michael JacksonÂ´s Â´We Are The WorldÂ´, With Music Royalty

Grammy award winning Indian musician AR Rahman will join voices with some of the biggest names in the music industry like Celine Dion, Lionel Richie, Barbara Streisand and Kanye West to record a cover of Michael Jackson's peace anthem 'We Are The World'.

The 44-year-old singer-composer who picked up two golden gramophones over the weekend, headed straight to the studio afterwards to record the song which will help raise money for the victims of the Haiti earthquake, along with 80 other artistes .

Legendary producer Quincy Jones and singer Lionel Richie invited Rahman, who won two Oscar awards last year for the soundtrack of the hit movie 'Slumdog Millionaire', to participate in the new charity single, reported Los Angeles Times.

Proceeds of the song will go straight to the people of Haiti, who are recovering from the devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake on January 12.
