The Madhya Pradesh High Court is likely to take up a writ petition, seeking to set aside a state government order banning the screening of ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ in the state on Monday.

The Film’s distributor, UTV Software Communications Ltd had moved the principal bench of the high court on Saturday, to set aside the order.

In the writ petition, the distributor questioned the legitimacy of the prohibitory order banning the screening of the film. Petitioner requested the court that the order be taken up for urgent hearing. The matter, a court official said, was brought before the Chief Justice, AK Patnaik, who in turn directed the registry to list the matter for Monday, before a regular bench.

The petitioner questioned the legitimacy of the commercial tax department for banning screening of the movie
