Tamil Actor Ajmal of ´Anjathey´ Fame In Latin American Film ´Denova´

Tamil actor Ajmal, who catapulted to fame playing the role of an anti-hero in movie 'Anjathey', is quite upbeat after finishing shooting his first international film.

'Denova', which essentially means 'Ultimate Truth', is directed by a Dubai-based ad filmmaker Swabri, the actor said.

"It is basically a kind of a Latin American movie and the story is about a nuclear family, how a tragedy strikes it and how it overcomes it," he told PTI.

Ajmal plays a character that evolves through the different phases of his ordeals. "It has a spiritual angle too," he said.

he 90-minute English film also stars Mumbai-based Auroshika, who is busy now doing Nagesh Kukunoor's upcoming film, he said.

he movie is meant for a select audience and the producer is focusing on releasing it initially at film festivals like Cannes, and later at multiplexes, Ajmal said.

It will be released in different languages, including Hindi, Arabic, Persian and Iranian, the doctor-turned-actor said.

Ajmal said that the project landed in his lap quite unexpectedly. Swabri had seen his photos and invited him over.

he film has been shot in Dubai and Kerala, said Ajmal, who received the Filmfare award for the best actor in a supporting role for his performance in 'Anjathey' released in 2008. Ajmal is also looking forward to the Venkat-directed 'Kathirvel' in which he plays a thief. Thre film also stars actress Sunaina.

He is presently busy with the shooting of 'KO' directed by K V Anand. " There are two main characters in the film. One is Jivaa and the other is me," he said. Another project in the pipeline is 'Karuppanpatti' by debutant director Prabhu, an associate of ace filmmaker Shankar said he is happy doing projects in the Tamil film industry.

"I am sticking to Kollywood (as the Tamil film industry is popularly known) right now," he added.

The actor is looking forward to doing comic roles. His first comdey, 'Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru' by debutante director J S Nandhini released last year, drew widespread appreciation from fans.
