It must have been a hell of an embarrassing task for PVR's Ajay Bijli. In all the stand-offs between multiplexes and producers/distributors over revenue-sharing terms, Bijli has been at the forefornt in not agreeing to pay percentage share demanded producers and distributors.
Not a very happy position to be in, one would agree. On their part, the other multiplex owners were not relecting too easily for obvious reasons. Also Ajay Bijli had, at the time of release of 'Fanaa', let down the other multiplexes quite badly when he had gone ahead and agreed to the terms demanded by Yash Raj Films without taking the other multiplexes into confidence. Obviously, Ajay Bijli had given more importance to his business relations with Aamir Khan (the deal for joint production of 'Taare Zameen Par' with Aamir had been financed by then) and had prompted a chain reaction of other multiplexes succumbing to pressure from the producers of 'Fanaa'. The other multiplex owners had not forgotten that episode and, in fact that may actually have come in the way of the early settlement of the'Taare Zameen Par'issue. Well Mr. Bijli, as the adage goes-Practice What You Preach!
