There is nothing pretentious about Shah Rukh Khan. During most of his conversations, he has been simple and direct. In the aftermath of the Bombay terror attack, SRK feels that the best way he can alleviate some of the fear and bleakness that has settled in p eople’s lives is by entertaining them. "That is what I am best at. May be this is not the best time for a movie release, but I leave everything in the hands of god," said Khan. "As an actor my job is to make people smile, offer them solace to forget all this for a few hours."

However, at the same time Khan is realistic enough to gauge the mood of people and accepts that he, like everybody else, is hoping that something constructive emerges out of all this anger. "It is sad that change has to emerge this way, but at least the process has begun."

King Khan repudiated the terrorists’ stand and said that terrorism had no religion. "Every religion is good, every language is communicative. But importantly we must change ourselves first to effect any change in the world. Let us use the power invested in us as people to vote for a change. Give one party which is secular a chance at governance. Alliances are insecure because they always have to worry about the numbers," he said.
