This one’s a remake of the popular Malayalam film ‘Marykkundoru Kunjaadu’.
But will the successful ‘formula’ work when made in to a Bollywood film as well ?
“The title ‘KAMAAL DHAMAAL MALAMAAL’ is adding up to Number 49 – this octave of Number 4 is neither fortunate nor unfortunate. It can be powerful or indifferent depending upon the will or desire of the person, but more or less it represents self-containment, loneliness and isolation from fellowmen” explains Bhavikk.
“As per the meaning derived, it clearly means that the film will hold appeal and will be appreciated only by those people who like watching comedies in this genre and not by a large section of the audience” predicts Bhavikk.
“But the film is releasing on 28th September 2012 which is a day primarily ruled by Number 1 (Sun) and the film’s leading man – Nana Patekar is also ruled by the same number being born on 1st January 1951. Also he running in his 62nd year will ensure that he gets due credit for a job well done” he adds quickly.
“Besides him, other supporting cast such as Paresh Rawal (30th June 1950), Shreyas Talpade (27th January 1976) and Om Puri (18th October 1950) are also passing through good to decent phases and will be liked for giving earnest performances”.
“But alas, director Priyadarshan’s luck in his 56th year (30th January 1956) is not in good shape (his last attempt ‘Tezz’ proved to be a disaster) at the moment and when the ‘stars’ (read luck) of the captain of the ship are not that powerful, it is bound to sink by the end of the journey”. (in this case the film’s entire run at the box office).
“So expecting any ‘kamaal’, ‘dhamaal’ or ‘malamaal’ kind of a situation at the ticket window by its makers will be a far-fetched idea” ends Bhavikk on a clear note.
